Taxpayers who choose direct deposit on their federal income tax returns can expect to receive their economic stimulus payments between May 2 and May 16 provided their returns were received and processed by April 15, 2008.

For taxpayers who did not choose direct deposit on their tax return but whose returns were processed by April 15, the paper checks will be in the mail starting May 16, with the initial mailings completed by around July 11.

Don't panic if you have not received your economic stimulus check yet.One main reason people are declined for a stimulus check is if they are using an ITIN or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number instead of a Social Security Number.

Also for those Americans who do not normally file a tax return, you will have to use Form 1040A-3 to be eligible for the economic stimulus check.

For a single filer, the minimum payment is generally $300, and the maximum payment about $600. For married taxpayers filing jointly, the minimum payment is $600 and the maximum is $1,200. Taxpayers with children will receive an additional $300 per child under 17.
